Annadventuversary 2016
Kicking-Off Year 19
It was an open ended plan. 9 days travelling all over the deep southeastern corner of Oregon exploring remote areas full of hot springs, gulches, mountains and refuges sleeping in our car. No reservations, staying in dispersed or wilderness campsites, no daily agenda, a big Zen experiment with just us the Bill Sullivan book and driving east. We also made the EVIL decision to buy a new car, a Hyundai Santa Fe. Yes, it's a large crossover with an all glass roof and a V6, but we have justifications. We are getting a lite travel trailer next year and needed a tow vehicle that could pull 5000lbs, AND we really wanted to sleep in the back of the car in the middle of nowhere with the stars over our heads. Since Ang NEVER asks for ANYTHING and she loved the car we just did it.
After making many lists and getting all of our needed "stuff" we packed up the youngest child, our 2 bassets and the cat and headed down to Medford to drop them all off to our oldest daughter for the duration. After a couple family days we were off to Ashland for coffee at Case and east we went towards our adventure.
Day 1 - Hart and Steens Mtn
Day 2 - The Road to Jordan Valley
Day 3 - Leslie Gulch to Burns
Day 4 - Craft Cabin Hike
Day 5 - The Refuge
Day 6-8 - BEND!
Day 9 - Hershberger Mountain
